Ebensburg Borough Council Reorganization Meeting Agenda

Agenda Items

1. Administration of Oaths of Office

Mayor Datsko will administer oaths to:

  • Newly elected Councilor Mike Murphy
  • Re-elected Councilors Jeff Ball, Cecilia Houser, and Dave Kuhar

2. Call to Order & Pledge of Allegiance

Led by Mayor Datsko.

3. Public Comments

Public invited to comment on any agenda item.

4. Election of Council President

  • Nominations opened by Mayor; no second required.
  • Voting: voice vote, one nominee at a time.
  • Majority wins; council members may vote for themselves.
  • Mayor votes only to break ties.

5. Election of Council Vice-President

Same procedure as above. Once both officers are elected, President assumes chair from Mayor.

6. Administrative Appointments (led by Council President)

  • 3A: Appoint Pawlowski, Long & Gribler as Borough Solicitor.
  • 3B: Appoint Borough Manager as Secretary/Treasurer.
  • 3C: Appoint Borough Manager as Property Maintenance Enforcement Officer.
  • 3D: Appoint TranSystems Corporation Consultants as Borough Engineers.
  • 3E: Designate depositories: First National Bank, First Commonwealth Bank, AmeriServ Financial Bank, 1st Summit Bank, and PLGIT.

7. Appointments to Authorities, Boards & Commissions

May be made individually or by single motion:

  • 4A: Renne Martin-Nagle → Ebensburg Municipal Authority (5-year term, expires 12/2028)
  • 4B: Margaret Stephan → Ebensburg Zoning Hearing Board (3-year term, expires 12/2026)
  • 4C: Philip Woo → Ebensburg Recreation Board (5-year term, expires 12/2028)
  • 4D: Rory Coleman → Ebensburg Recreation Board (5-year term, expires 12/2028)
  • 4E: Dennis Glass → Ebensburg Civil Service Commission (6-year term, expires 12/2029)
  • 4F: Tim Myers → Ebensburg Civil Service Commission (alternate, 1-year term, expires 12/2024)
  • 4G: Charles Moyer → Vacancy Board (1-year term, expires 12/2024)
  • 4H: John Hawksworth & Chief Mike Sheehan → Central Cambria Emergency Management Council (each 1-year term, expires 12/2024)
  • 4I: Borough Manager → Cambria Somerset Council of Governments (delegate)
  • 4J:
    • Borough Manager → Cambria County Tax Collection Committee (delegate)
    • Central Cambria School District Business Manager → same committee (alternate)
  • 4K: Borough Manager → Laurel Municipal Inspection Agency (delegate)

8. Meeting Dates

  • Regular meetings: 4th Monday of each month at 6:30 p. m. during 2024
  • Exception: May and December meetings held on the 3rd Monday
