Key Agenda Items & Updates

1. Consent Agenda The following routine items are grouped for a single vote unless a council member requests separate discussion:

  • Item 9A: Approval of summer hires (see details below).
  • Item 11A: Approval of minutes from the April 25, 2022 meeting.
  • Item 11B: Approval of the financial statement for April.
  • Item 11C: Approval of payment for May bills totaling $498,264. 57.

2. Summer Hires (Item 9A) The following applicants have been hired for summer employment at a rate of $10. 50 per hour:

  • Public Works: Ryan Hunt (Municipal Road), Tobey Becquet (New Germany Road), Gabriel Forst (Meade Street).
  • Lifeguards: Maya Sirsikar, Naveen Sirsikar (Emerald Drive), Gwendalyn Fodor (Charlies Road), Kayden Magulick (134 Sylvan Glen).
  • Note: One part-time summer office assistant position for Community Development remains open.

3. Public Works Director Retirement (Item 9B) The current Public Works Director has announced his retirement. The vacancy has been advertised, with applications due by June 13th. Interviews are scheduled for the following week.

4. Salary Resolution (Item 9C) A new resolution is proposed to establish wages for 2022. This reflects a $2. 00 per hour increase for part-time summer laborers, summer crew leaders, and lifeguards, as voted on in April.

5. Street Paving Project (Item 8A)

  • Project: 2022 Street Paving Project.
  • Cost Estimate: Approximately $295,150.
  • Timeline: Bid documents are being prepared. Bids will be advertised for June 2nd and 9th, opened on June 21, 2022, with an award scheduled for the June 27th Council Meeting.

6. Principal Financial Stock (Item 11D & 11E)

  • The Borough owns 456 shares of Principal Financial Stock received during the demutualization of Principal Insurance Company.
  • Staff recommends selling this stock.
  • Resolution #2022-09 is proposed to authorize the Mayor to sign documents for the sale.

7. Department Reports Written reports have been submitted by:

  • Police: Chief Wyland
  • Public Works: Director Jeff Evans
  • Community Development: Director Danea Koss
  • Recreation: Director Dirk Johnson
  • Codes Enforcement: Monthly report forwarded to Council.

8. Municipal Authority Projects (Item 6C) The Municipal Authority plans significant upgrades to sewer, water, and stormwater infrastructure using potential grant funds. The Council’s Water, Wastewater and Stormwater Committee is recommended to meet with Authority representatives to discuss these projects.

9. Recreation Committee (Item 7A) A meeting between the Rotary and Recreation Committee will be scheduled to discuss the administration of the dog park construction once necessary information is gathered.
