Water Sources
The system draws from:
- Old Reservoir #1 and New Reservoir #2 (Tanner Street, near treatment plant)
- Purchased water from Greater Johnstown Water Authority’s Saltlick Reservoir Plant
Water from all sources is combined before treatment. A Source Water Assessment found potential susceptibility to road deicing materials, accidental spills, septic systems, agricultural runoff, and composting stockpiles — but overall risk of significant contamination is low.
Detected Contaminants (Jan–Dec 2025)
All detected levels are below regulatory limits. No violations occurred.
Chemical Contaminants
- Fluoride: Detected at 0. 89 ppm (MCL: 2 ppm). Promotes strong teeth.
- Haloacetic Acids (HAA5’s): Detected at 41. 8 ppb (MCL: 60 ppb). By-product of disinfection.
- Total Trihalomethanes (TTHM’s): Detected at 67. 5 ppb (MCL: 80 ppb). By-product of disinfection.
- Barium (IOC): Detected at 0. 037 ppm (MCL: 2 ppm). From natural deposits.
- Chlorine (Distribution): Detected at 1. 90 ppm (MRDL: 4. 0 ppm). Used to control microbes.
Entry Point Disinfectant Residual
- Chlorine: Detected at 0. 81 ppm (MinRDL: 0. 20 ppm). Used to control microbes.
Lead and Copper
- Lead: 90th percentile value = 1. 11 ppb (Action Level: 15 ppb). Source: corrosion of household plumbing.

Special Notes
- Some groups (immunocompromised, elderly, infants) may be more vulnerable to contaminants. Consult healthcare providers for advice.
- EPA/CDC guidelines available via Safe Drinking Water Hotline: 800-426-4791.
- Customers should review both Ebensburg and Saltlick Consumer Confidence Reports due to blended water supply.
