Ebensburg Borough Garage Sale Application & Rules
This document is an application form and rule set for residents of Ebensburg Borough, Pennsylvania, who wish to hold a garage sale.
Application Details Required
To apply, residents must provide:
- Date(s) and Times of Sale: Maximum of 2 days.
- Type of Sale: Options include garage, yard, porch, auction, flea market, etc.
- Property Address: Where the sale will take place.
- Owner’s Information: Name, phone number, address, and zip code.
- Person Responsible for the Sale: Name, phone number, and email address (if different from owner).
Rules Applicable to All Sales
- Definition: A “Garage Sale” includes any sale of new, used, or second-hand goods at a residential premise — including yard sales, tag sales, attic sales, basement sales, rummage sales, flea markets, etc.
- Frequency Limit: Maximum of 2 garage sales per year per household.
- Duration & Hours: Max 2 days; permissible hours are 7 a. m. to sunset.
- Signage Rules:
- No more than one sign (max 4 sq. ft. ) may be displayed on the property.
- Up to two directional signs (each max 2 sq. ft. ) are allowed.
- Signs cannot be placed on traffic poles, streetlights, public utilities, curbs, sidewalks, or streets.
- Removal Requirement: All signs, flyers, posters, and bulletins must be removed by the end of the sale — or if canceled, by the scheduled last day.
- Display Location: Items may be displayed in residence, porch, garage, or yard — but NOT in the public right-of-way.
- Penalty: Violating these rules (especially regarding signage) can result in fines up to $600 under Ordinance #607.
