Ebensburg Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Report - April 2023
Submitted by: Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations Date of Report: May 22, 2023
Executive Summary
- Water Treated: The plant treated 27,276,000 gallons of reservoir water, averaging 909,202 gallons per day.
- Production Drop: This represents a 51,598 gallon per day reduction compared to April 2022.
- Purchased Water: An average of 61,276 gallons per day was purchased from Saltlick and blended into the distribution system.
Key Events & Maintenance
- Power Outage (April 1st): A power loss caused issues with the generator transfer switch and DAF VFDs. The electrical board for the transfer switch was replaced, and the DAF unit was taken offline for annual maintenance and cleaning. Both issues were resolved by April 17th.
- Brush Fire (April 10th): A brush fire at the lower reservoir required the use of a foaming agent. Inframark shut off the intake from that source to prevent foam contamination, allowing for natural dilution before returning the source to service.
- Planned Outage (April 23rd): A planned outage from 2 AM to 6 AM was handled smoothly with no damage.
- Work Orders: Staff completed 83 work orders, including ladder inspections, greasing pumps and drives, fire extinguisher checks, and cleaning clarifier troughs.
Operations & Compliance
- Bacteriological Samples: Nine samples were collected; zero were found to be total coliform positive.
- Chlorine Levels: Four samples were collected in the distribution system, all meeting the minimum requirement of 0. 20mg/L free chlorine.
- Other Tasks: Inframark submitted a study on historical water loss to PA DEP, created a chemical tracking report in HACH WIM, and calibrated online instrumentation.
