Ebensburg Municipal Authority: February 2025 WTP Monthly Report

Date: March 24, 2025 Submitted by: Luke Byrne, Inframark

Executive Summary & Operations

  • Water Production: The plant treated 35,991,000 gallons in February (avg. 1,285,393 gallons/day). This is an increase of 133,083 gallons per day compared to the same time last year.
  • Purchased Water: An average of 187,910 gallons per day were purchased from Saltlick to blend into the system due to excessive water loss.
  • Maintenance Issues:
    • A leak near the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) was discovered on February 6th. Borough crews tightened a leaking clamp, but a nearby valve is also leaking and may require a complete replacement.
    • Staff repaired the raw water valve's 4-20mA feedback loop by installing a new potentiometer.
    • The Caustic bulk chemical tank was cleaned out to resolve clogged feed lines.
  • Awards: The plant was selected again for the prestigious Aera Wide Optimization Program (AWOP) Award. Operators Kyle Smiley and Anthony Perott will accept the award on March 24th.
  • Water Quality: UCMR5 sampling for PFAS and Lithium was conducted on January 22 with no detectable results.
  • Reservoir Levels: The upper reservoir level is at -6 ft, an increase of 2 ft from the previous month due to precipitation and snow melt.
  • Compliance:
    • Monthly Operating Report (MOR) submitted to PA DEP.
    • Nine bacteriological samples were collected; zero were total coliform positive.
    • Four chlorine samples were collected, all meeting the minimum requirement of 0. 20mg/L.
    • A study on historical water loss was submitted to PA DEP on 12-20-22; awaiting response.
