Ebensburg WWTP January 2024 Monthly Report Summary

Report Date: February 26, 2024
Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Project Manager (Inframark)
Submitted to: Ebensburg Borough Authority Members

Wastewater Treatment Volume & Performance

  • Treated 29,982,300 gallons of wastewater in January.
  • Average daily flow: 967,170 gallons per day.
  • All operational and testing requirements were met for the month.

Key Maintenance & Repairs

  • Grit System: Grit classifier was full of sludge; grit lift pump was damaged. Pump was repaired and reinstalled — system now working well.
  • Centrifuge: Bearing temperatures ran high due to clogged auto greaser. Lines flushed, refilled with new grease — temps normalized.
  • Screw Pump: Rebuilt failing screw pump (used to move sludge through plant processes including centrifuge). Stator, rotor, and pressure valve replaced. Facility operated on one pump during repair — urgency due to limited sludge movement capacity.
  • Screening Unit: Two bearings hanging up due to wear — new bearings purchased, repair planned.
  • Basket Screeners: Cleaned rags/debris at Industrial Park Marine Center and Emerald Estates locations.
  • Industrial Park Sewer Lift Station: Approved project to replace discharge elbows, slide rails, and machine/balance pump impellers — awaiting parts.
  • Emerald Estates: Automatic transfer switch arrived; Inframark coordinating with ASCO and Dodson for installation/startup date.

Upcoming Items (“On the Radar”)

  • Level sensors for SBR tanks
  • UV chamber cleaning
  • Centrifuge flow meter
  • Screening unit bearings

Operations & Compliance Testing

  • SBR Tank Testing: Done Mon/Wed/Fri — includes Settleability, MLSS, MLVSS.
  • Influent/Effluent Testing: Done Tue/Thu — includes TSS, BOD, CBOD.
  • Daily Checks: Effluent pH, Dissolved Oxygen, UV intensity, composite samples.
  • All data entered into WIMS daily for E-DMR reporting.
  • Monthly reports sent electronically to DEP by 28th of each month.

Plant Operations Highlights

  • Inspected Industrial Park and Emerald Estates pump stations.
  • Screened units, grit removal processes, WAS pumps, digesters, centrifuge, polymer feed system all operated/inspected.
  • Floating debris removed from SBR tanks; aeration cycles adjusted to optimize sludge.
  • Influent/effluent samplers checked daily; UV operational checks performed.
