Ebensburg WWTP Monthly Report: April 2025
Date: May 19, 2025 Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Project Manager for Inframark
This report details the operations and maintenance of the Ebensburg wastewater treatment facility (WWTP) for April 2025.
Executive Summary & Operations
- Wastewater Treated: The plant treated a total of 26,465,100 gallons, averaging 882,200 gallons per day.
- Sludge Disposal: 14. 75 tons of dry sludge were sent to the landfill.
- Key Maintenance:
- Replaced a cracked polymer chemical pump head and rebuilt the mixer.
- Cleaned UV racks and removed algae from lamp covers.
- Replaced inlet filters on blowers and installed new Magnehelic gauges.
- Repaired a leaking grease line on the centrifuge.
- Site Improvements: Staff performed spring clean-up, filled ground hog holes around clarifiers, leveled uneven lawn areas, and filled an 8-inch hole above the wet well with concrete.
- PA DEP Inspection: On April 15th, the PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) conducted a technical assistance inspection. This was prompted by elevated ammonia and fecal results from May 2024, which were caused by mechanical failures of air valve actuators. Inframark explained the corrective actions taken and noted that parts have been stocked to prevent future issues. The PA DEP commented that the plant's operating condition and housekeeping were "Outstanding. "
- Sewer Lift Stations: These were inspected regularly. Pump runtime hours were documented, generators were exercised, and basket screeners were cleaned. No issues or damage occurred during power outages.
Compliance & Plant Operations
- Testing Schedule:
- Effluent pH, alkalinity, and dissolved oxygen are tested daily.
- SBR tank testing for process control occurs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
- Influent and effluent compliant testing for DEP reporting is done on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
