Ebensburg WWTP Monthly Report (July 2025)

Date: August 25th, 2025
Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Project Manager, Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations
Submitted to: Ebensburg Borough Authority Members

Executive Summary

  • The plant treated 21,638,100 gallons of wastewater in July — averaging 698,000 gallons per day.
  • 14. 09 tons of dry sludge were sent to the landfill after centrifuge operation.
  • Staff fabricated and installed an internal spray bar for the screening unit to keep brushes clean and flush debris automatically. This has improved removal of large solids/debris, with visible improvement in SBR tanks.
  • An emergency stop occurred during centrifuge operation due to broken shear pins on the conveyor auger. Repair took ~8 hours and required a hydraulic press to realign motor shaft pins.
  • Warm overnight temperatures caused the #4 decanter VFD to fault. Modifications included installing an air filter in the cabinet for better airflow, and a spare VFD with its own cooling fan was purchased.
  • Dodson Electric is addressing electrical issues in the headworks building and SBR junction box.
  • Duckweed is flourishing in the process water tank; staff are using a custom surface skimmer to manage it.
  • All three sewer lift stations were inspected regularly:
    • Brush/weeds removed.
    • Pump runtime documented, generators exercised.
    • Wet wells pumped down; flanges/seats checked for leaks — none found.
    • Floats/transducers working properly at all stations.
    • Basket screeners cleaned out; buildings swept and cleaned.

On the Radar (Upcoming Items):

  • SCADA programming
  • Process water cover
  • Grit blower repairs
  • Centrifuge liners
  • #4 Decanter VFD

Operations & Compliance

Testing Schedule:

  • Effluent pH, alkalinity, dissolved oxygen: analyzed daily.
  • SBR tank testing (Settleability, MLSS): performed Mon/Wed/Fri on all four units.
  • Influent/effluent compliance testing (for DEP reporting): done Tuesdays & Thursdays.
    • Includes: TSS, BOD, CBOD, Phosphorus, Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen, Nitrate-Nitrite, Ammonia as N, fecal coliform samples.
  • UV intensity recorded daily.
  • Composite samples collected.
  • All data entered into WIMS daily for E-DMR monthly reporting.
