Ebensburg WWTP Monthly Report Summary (August 2024)

Report Date: September 23, 2024
Prepared by: Luke Byrne, Project Manager, Inframark Water Infrastructure Operations
Submitted to: Ebensburg Borough Authority Members

Wastewater Treatment Volume & Sludge Disposal

  • Treated 18,028,400 gallons of wastewater in August.
  • Average daily flow: 581,600 gallons/day.
  • Centrifuge operated once monthly; 2. 57 tons of dry sludge sent to landfill.

Key Maintenance & Repairs Completed

  • Installed 3 new waste activated sludge (WAS) pumps in SBR tanks #2, #3, and #4.
  • Installed new AUMA air valve actuator and level sensor on SBR#1 — restored biosolids treatment to 100%.
  • Replaced two burnt-out UV bulbs and cleaned bulb lenses and basin.
  • Installed new DO probe on #4 SBR tank.
  • Rebuilt two electric solenoid valves for centrifuge flush process.
  • Installed new belts on blower building exhaust fan.
  • Greased decanters, screening unit, and centrifuge.
  • Cleaned out digester weirs/troughs (#3 and #4).
  • Inspected overhead cranes (annual inspection completed).
  • Removed floating debris from SBR tanks.
  • Adjusted aeration cycles to optimize sludge processing.
  • Checked influent/effluent samplers daily; performed UV operational checks.

Equipment & Facility Issues Identified

  • Need for new heaters in screening unit building — one unit repaired last year is now failing again; other unit deemed unrepairable.
  • Heavy rainfall event on August 9th: recorded 4. 25 inches in 24 hours → plant switched to storm mode (retained solids, discharged clear water).
  • Sewer lift stations inspected regularly; pump runtime documented; generators exercised.
  • Repaired wear rings and impellers on both pumps at Industrial Park marine center pumping station (with RAM Industrial).
  • Removed overgrown brush around fences at all three pumping stations.

Compliance & Testing Schedule

  • SBR tank testing (Settleability, MLSS, MLVSS): Mon/Wed/Fri.
  • Influent/effluent compliance testing (TSS, BOD, CBOD, Phosphorus, Nitrogen species, Ammonia, Fecal Coliform): Tue/Thu.
  • Effluent pH & Dissolved Oxygen: Daily (7 days/week).
  • All data entered into WIMS daily for E-DMR reporting.
  • Monthly reports submitted electronically to DEP by 28th of each month.
