Ebensburg’s Historic District Listing
Ebensburg Borough has been officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The district covers 162 years of history (1799–1961) and includes 422 contributing buildings. The listing recognizes the area's significance in commerce and architecture.
Council Adopts 2020 Budget
The Borough Council approved a $5,892,610 budget for 2020. This marks the 10th consecutive year without a tax increase. Key projects planned for the year include:
- Infrastructure: Water line replacements on Arbor and North Spruce Streets; equipment upgrades at the water treatment plant.
- Public Safety: Police converting from paper to electronic citations; security system upgrades at the water treatment plant.
- Maintenance: Recoating downtown signposts, trash receptacles, and benches; replacing a pickup truck and dump truck.
- Recreation: Upgrades at the swimming pool (deck chairs, tile repairs, chlorine feeder); repairs at Lake Rowena (French drain, pier repairs, new concession stand).
2019 Project Recap
Council and staff completed several projects in 2019, including:
- Replacing a large 1999 International dump truck.
- Installing stormwater collection systems on Ogle, West Lloyd, and South Julian Streets.
- Replacing a sewer main along Virginia Street and a new water main on Laurelbrook Road.
- Installing new curbs and sidewalks on Caroline, Triumph, and Marian Streets.
- Milling and resurfacing streets in the southern half of town.
- Converting all streetlights to LED.

Borough Council Updates
- New Members: The council welcomes Jeff Ball and Mike Owatt, who are taking the seats vacated by Susan Barber and John Cobaugh.
- Meeting Schedule: Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month at 6:30 p. m. in Council Chambers.
- Current Members: Randy Datsko (Mayor), Doug Tusing (President), Jeff Ball, Cecilia Houser, Theresa Jacoby, Dave Kuhar, Scot May, and Mike Owatt.
YPCC Health & Wellness Facility
Located inside the Young Peoples Community Center (YPCC), this facility offers cardio and weight equipment, personal trainers, and classes.
- Hours: Mon-Fri 9 am–9 pm; Sat 10 am–9 pm; Sun Noon–9 pm.
- Membership Fees: Adult ($30), Senior/Student/Military ($25), Family ($50).
- Specials: Purchase 3 months, get 1 free; 6 months, get 2 free; 9 months, get 3 free.
- Bike Rentals: Available hourly ($8 adult/$6 youth) or full day ($32 adult/$24 youth). Helmets required for those under 12.
- Pavilion Rentals: $50. 00 per pavilion (3 at Lake Rowena, 2 at the Pool).
Ebensburg Borough Pool Rates
The pool opens May 23, 2020. Hours are Mon-Thu 12 pm–7 pm and Fri-Sun 12 pm–6 pm.
- Daily Admission: Adult ($6), Child/Senior/Twilight ($4).
- Resident Season Passes: Individual Adult ($120), Child/Senior ($100), 2-Person ($160).
- Non-Resident Season Passes: Individual Adult ($150), Child/Senior ($130), 2-Person ($185).
Street Resurfacing & Sewer Projects
- Street Resurfacing: Streets south of High Street have been milled and repaved. Bids will be sought for the northeast quadrant in 2020, with northwest paving scheduled for 2021.
- Sewer Project: The borough-wide sewer project is complete. Contractors will return in spring for final yard repairs. Residents must complete their own sewer repairs and obtain compliance certificates (valid for 5 years).
Nathan’s Divide Nature Center Project
Efforts are underway to open a nature center dedicated to outdoor recreation and environmental education near the upper reservoir.
- Goal: Raise $45,000 for a Comprehensive Plan and Feasibility Study.
- Donations: Can be made through the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies at www. nathansdivide. org.
Public Works & Utilities
- ACH Payments: Residents can sign up for automatic water/sewer bill payments via ACH to avoid late fees. Forms are available at the office or online.
- Sidewalk Ordinance: Property owners must clear sidewalks within 12 hours of a snowfall. Snow should be shoveled to the bare pavement, not into streets.
- Peoples Natural Gas: Installation of new gas lines is complete south of High Street. Work will continue in the northeast quadrant and into the northwest through 2020.
- Sidewalk/Curb Projects: Bids will be awarded for new sidewalks and curbs on East Horner, East Crawford, East Sample, and North Caroline Streets after gas line work is finished.

Ebensburg Tennis Center
- Lessons: Private lessons ($55/hr) and clinics ($13–$20).
- Membership: Single ($160), Family ($210), Junior ($65). Out-of-town memberships available.
- Court Rates (Indoor): Mon-Fri 9 am–4 pm ($25); 4 pm–9 pm ($27). Sat-Sun 9 am–2 pm ($24); 2 pm–7 pm ($22).
- All You Can Play Pass: Single ($360), Family ($550). Valid Sept 8–May 16.
Tax Collector Corner
- 2019 Taxes: Payments for 2019 real estate taxes can be set up at the Cambria County Courthouse (814-472-1445).
- School Per Capita Tax: Berkheimer Associates will contact residents regarding 2019 school per capita taxes.
