Ebensburg Borough Council Achievements in 2022

The council and staff completed numerous projects throughout the year, including:

  • Installation of trees on W. Horner Street, W. Crawford Street, and W. Sample Street
  • Milling and resurfacing streets in the northwest quadrant of town
  • Replacement of a police cruiser
  • Purchase of line painting equipment for the airport and pursuit of grants for building repairs/maintenance
  • Support for Municipal Authority’s water line replacement project on High Street ($1,265,610 grant)
  • Administration and closure of DCED Façade Improvement Grant program; application for new $50,000 funding round
  • Completion of hiring search for new public works director and transition to qualified candidates
  • Maintenance of gold certification in PA Sustainable Community Program
  • Negotiation of new 4-year labor agreement with AFSCME
  • Oversight of “Welcome to Ebensburg” mural installation at Lake Rowena entrance

Penn State Extension Office of Cambria County

The office provides science-based education and resources to the community:

  • Offers face-to-face and online classes on land use, skill development, business growth, environmental stewardship, and family health
  • Runs 4-H youth development program to build life skills and explore careers
  • Master Gardener volunteers share gardening knowledge through educational opportunities

Swift911 Emergency Notification System

Borough uses SwiftReach Networks, Inc. for emergency notifications:

  • Makes phone calls during emergencies or to share important info (e. g. , boil water notices, sewer/water issues)
  • Calls display Caller ID as Ebensburg Borough or Police Department
  • Residents should add their contact info via borough website (www. ebensburgpa. com) or call 814-472-8780

Ebensburg Cambria Public Library 100th Anniversary

Celebrating 100 years since opening in 1923:

  • Year-long Reading Challenge for ages 0–100
  • Summer Block Party and limited-release special brew from Lloyd Street Brewing
  • Monthly programs: Story Time, Sprouts, LEGO Club, Little Builders, Book Club, Pick-Up Sticks, Meet the Author Series
  • New adult/senior program: Game Day; SummerQuest for all ages
  • Extended hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays

YPCC Health & Wellness Facility

Located inside Young Peoples Community Center:

  • Specials: Buy 3 months get 1 free, buy 6 get 2 free, buy 9 get 3 free

Cross-Country Ski & Bike Rentals

Available through YPCC:

  • Hourly: $8/adult, $6/youth
  • Full day: $32/adult, $24/youth
  • Waiver required; instructional clinics available for skiing

Pavilion Rentals

Three pavilions at Lake Rowena, two at Borough Swimming Pool:

  • Cost: $75. 00 + $25 cleaning deposit
  • Call YPCC to check availability and reserve

Outdoor Skate/Hockey Rink

At Lake Rowena:

  • Open year-round for street/in-line hockey
  • Free and open to public; goals and lights provided

Swimming Pools

Borough Pool renovated in 2011:

  • Heated, kid-friendly, handicap accessible
  • Available for after-hour private rentals
  • YPCC manages lessons and open swims at Central Cambria High School Pool

Opening Day: Saturday, May 27, 2023

  • Hours: Mon–Thu 12pm–7pm; Fri–Sun 12pm–6pm
  • Walk-in: Adult $7, Seniors/Children (4–18) $5
  • Multi-Visit (min. 5 passes): Adult $30, Seniors/Children $20
  • Season Pass: Adult $140, Seniors/Children $115
  • Add-on/person to season pass: $40
  • Free admission for children under 3 and with Military ID
