Leadership Farewells

  • Chief Terry Wyland: After 40 years of service, Chief Wyland retired on June 30, 2023. The bulletin thanks him for his exemplary service and professional demeanor.
  • Solicitor Blair Pawlowski: Long-time Solicitor Blair Pawlowski is stepping down after 50 years of service (since January 1974). He will be replaced by Attorney Matt Gribler of the firm Pawlowski, Long & Gribler.

Public Safety & Regulations

  • Pet Waste: It is a law to pick up pet waste. Fines can reach $600. Bags are available at Veterans Park, the YPCC Trailhead, and the new Ebensburg Dog Park. Do not put bags in residential trash cans or leave them on the ground.
  • Parking: Vehicles must park with the flow of traffic (passenger side against curb). This is a year-round violation with a $15 fine. Sidewalks cannot be used as driveways ($15 fine).
  • Reporting Issues: Residents should report graffiti, broken equipment, or vandalism to the borough office (814-472-8780) or email eburg@ebensburgpa. com. For suspicious activity, call 911 or the non-emergency line (814-472-2100).

Community Services & Alerts

  • Water System Upgrade: The borough is replacing the "SwiftReach 911" system with "Ebensburg Water Alerts" via Smart911. com. Existing users have been migrated, but residents are encouraged to log in to update contact info and customize alert preferences (text, voice, email).
  • Electric Bikes: The YPCC has received a grant to purchase two Aventon Step-Through e-bikes for public rental. These bikes assist with pedaling and are designed to handle hilly terrain.

Borough Governance

  • Junior Councilor: The Ebensburg Borough Junior Council is accepting applications from local high school or college students. Members attend monthly meetings on the 4th Monday of each month at the Municipal Building. Interested students should email eburg@ebensburgpa. com.
  • Alleyways: The bulletin clarifies that borough alleys are non-ordained. Property owners abutting an alley are responsible for maintenance but cannot park vehicles or store materials there. If an alley is the sole access to a property, it cannot be abandoned without court approval.
