This document contains standard engineering detail drawings for street construction and restoration in the Borough of Ebensburg, Cambria County, PA. The drawings were prepared by L. Robert Kimball & Associates, Inc. , Consulting Engineers, and dated September 1, 1995.
Curb & Sidewalk Specifications
- Typical Section Details:
- Curb line to grass plot: 3'-6"
- Grass plot width: 4'-0" (varies)
- Curb height: 8" above grade, 18" total depth
- Base material: AASHTO No. 57 crushed aggregate, minimum 4" depth
- Slope: 1/4" per foot toward curb
Depressed Curb Drive Entrance
- Maximum widths: 12'-0" for single driveway, 16'-0" for double driveway
- Expansion joints: 1/2" premolded expansion joints every 30 feet or less
- Concrete strength: 4,000 PSI
- Base material: 4 inches of AASHTO #57 crushed aggregate
Curb Cut Ramps for Physically Handicapped
- Slope requirements: Maximum 12:1 ratio (12" horizontal to 1" vertical)
- Landing area: Minimum 3 feet required
- Surface texture: Rougher than surrounding sidewalk, may be achieved by course brooming
- Expansion joints: 3/8" expansion joint where ramp joins rigid pavement
- Subbase: 4" aggregate subbase required
Street Restoration Details
- Trench restoration: Width = 24" + pipe outside diameter for temporary restoration
- Backfill material: AASHTO #57 coarse aggregate, mechanically tamped in 8" layers
- Patching: 3" bituminous stockpile patching material to street grade
- Pipe bedding: 4" to 6" minimum bed of AASHTO #57 stone under pipe
- Permanent paving: 6" B. C. B. C. (bituminous concrete base course) with 1½" to 2" wearing coarse
