Water Service Installation Detail — Ebensburg, PA

This document is a technical installation diagram for residential water service connections in the Borough of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania. It was updated by L. Robert Kimball & Associates, Inc. in May 2024 and is not drawn to scale.

Key Components & Installation Requirements

  • Pipe Entry: Water enters from the curb stop through a copper inlet pipe, penetrating the interior basement wall.
  • Shut Off Valve: Installed immediately after entry; labeled with an asterisk (*).
  • Pressure Reducer: Required downstream of the shut-off valve; also marked with an asterisk.
  • Water Meter:
    • Minimum size: 5/8 inch (must be obtained from the Borough).
    • Connected via a “Pipe to Meter Adaptor. ”
    • Includes a wire connection for remote readout.
  • Backflow Preventer: Installed after the meter; marked with an asterisk.
  • Customer Outlet: Final connection point labeled “To Customer. ”

Installation Specifications

  • Piping Height: Center of piping must be installed 2’ to 4’ above the basement floor and 6” from the wall.
  • Minimum Pipe Size: All piping downstream of the meter must be at least 3/4” in diameter — or match the existing pipe size if larger.
  • Clearance: At least 6” minimum clearance required between the pipe and the basement floor at the entry point.

  • Engineering Firm: L. Robert Kimball & Associates, Inc. , based in Ebensburg, PA.
  • Municipality: Borough of Ebensburg — responsible for providing the water meter and overseeing compliance.
